King cobra is called a king because its prey is majorly other snakes and reptiles. In fact king cobras do not belong to the cobra family. They belong to the Ophiophagus family. Their average life span is 17-20years. It is one of the big four snakes in India.(for more info on the big four click here )

King cobra is the biggest venomous snake in the world. It is a good swimmer. They can als climb trees with ease. King cobra's venom have a great potent of killing an asian elephant. It takes only 30-45 minutes for the venom to kill a human adult. It's venom consists of neurotoxins and cytotoxins. They affect the nervous system and the cells. King cobra is the only snake that builds nest to lay eggs. The king cobra can be identified by looking at the bigger scales on its head.


. It's predators include mongoose(it is imune to king cobra's venom), big birds, crocodiles(if battle is in water) and humans. Other wise, a king cobra can even kill Inland taipan, the most venomous snake in the world. Baby king cobras are cute. But its bite is also fatal
